You really have to dedicate your early production to units and then after a while just go for other players if only to make sure you can manually resolve fights. You can't clear anything except basic camps without taking massive casualties. I don't know how people in MP do it, honestly. Mostly just don't research Dispel Magic or whenever units get buffed or debuffed the AI tries to cats this. Spellcasting in auto-combat is even more of a crapshoot than normal combat. The AI isn't going to be able to keep Engineers alive and use their reload to good effect like you can.Ħ] Don't research spells that the AI can't use effectively. The AI is decent at using healing abilities in tactical combat, and they also help between turns.ĥ] Don't use units that rely on special abilities. But if you have some extra units walking around you can swap them in for wounded ones and prevent casualties.Ĥ] Have a source of healing. Just move them out of the stack.ģ] Bring reserves. Cavalry belongs in cavalry stacks, infantry in infantry stacks.Ģ] Don't let walking wounded fight. A fast cavalry unit in an infantry stack will rush ahead and get killed. Some good principles are:ġ] Unify stack speed. The AI in auto-combat uses the same tactics it uses in manual combat against you, so you can predict how it will act. Strategies that depend on, say, leveling up baby spiders or scoundrels aren't going to be very reliable.
